Bora Miterix Angle Duplicator

What is it? Do you need one?

Angle duplicator? Yes, it’s for duplicating an angle from your project onto your mitre saw.
A typical DIY challenge is replacing skirting board (baseboard) or architrave (door mouldings) and similar. So you measure thoroughly, cut your pieces at 45 degrees and put them in place, only to find a gap in the joint. Surprisingly often, walls and corners, both internal and external angle, are out of square (90 degrees) so if you cut your trim to 45 it can be wrong by a couple of degrees or more.

There are many ways to measure this angle and work out the corresponding mitre angle but all that maths is a pain and even measuring the angle in the first place is difficult (unless you have an angle finder, check out my review on the Silverline angle finder)

Enter the Bora Miterix
This is a device that is deceptively simple. You put it in or on the corner in question, make sure it’s fitting snugly, tighten it up, take it to your mitre saw and pull off one of it’s side legs. Then you just place it against the rear of the saw and turn the blade angle to meet it. Simple!!

Genuinely it is simple. And it works well. I have only one criticism of it, there’s a small amount of slack in the pivoting points which allows about 1mm play over its length. This irks me because I don’t want any slack in it at all. By holding the slack in one direction (in or out) at both the measuring location and the saw the problem is compensated for and in fairness to it, for speed and simplicity it’s a winner. At around £40 it’s not cheap but if you’re going to change all the skirting and architrave in your house it might prove very worthwhile.
