Ryobi One+ Drill Driver & Batteries
What’s a drill driver? What can you do with it?
The ubiquitous drill driver - as a first step into battery power tools a drill driver is generally every DIYers choice and I can’t disagree with that. My first was a black and decker MANY years ago, long since dead (and in those days lacking in power and only single speed) I still have a Makita that’s just on 20 years old and still runs well. These days your average drill driver will have 2 speeds, variable speed, forward and reverse and probably a hammer setting as well. You can drill with them, you can drive screws with them. If you have a hexagon drive quick change adaptor as shown in mine you can save precious seconds of your life in changing all the bits over (and in seriousness the bits are held solid and prevented from slipping).
You can get smaller units that are only really powered screwdrivers and don’t work well with drills due to their speed but a drill driver like this Ryobi is the one tool I really wouldn’t want to do without.
Would I get another? 100% yes. This is my fourth drill driver and unlikely to be my last. It gets a lot of abuse and for what I’d pitch as a higher end DIY model and I’d say the performance of the Ryobi has been top notch. So I’d quite happily get the same one again. The current model is slightly up-specked, it has a better ratcheting chuck (tightens better and easier) and it has an LED light. For me it’s probably the next thing I’ll buy because my son has the newer model and I have tool envy as a result...
Note: It doesn't necessarily come with any addons I’ve shown in the picture. I'm just showing what you can get for it. Also most battery tools are sold as "Bare" which means NO BATTERY so you may need to buy the battery (and charger) separately. Check the detail of what you’re buying before you buy because specs do change.
