Ryobi One+ Trim Router
What’s a trim router? What’s it good for?
A router is a tool that spins a shaping bit, a little like a drill. Router bits often have a shape to them that cuts a profile into wood. Trim (or palm) routers are lightweight, compact and highly portable, often used for putting a rounded or shaped edge onto a length of wood or a board where the cut edge may be rough or sharp to give a more comfortable, safe or better looking finish. Also used extensively by people fitting laminate finish on worktops to trim the edges. Larger model routers are available that are more used for cutting worktops, shaping larger longer lengths of wood, usually larger models are mains powered.
I use mine for cutting hinge mortices with a guide jig.
Would I replace it or buy it again? Yes I would. I’m not a big fan of the adjustment mechanism and also I made a purpose built base for it because the standard base wouldn’t accept guide bushes but balanced against my “buy in” to the Ryobi One+ battery platform I can live with the minor frustrations.
Note: It doesn't necessarily come with any addons I’ve shown in the picture. I'm just showing what you can get for it. Also most battery tools are sold as "Bare" which means NO BATTERY so you may need to buy the battery (and charger) separately. Check the detail of what you’re buying before you buy because specs do change.
